Worldviews Indeed!

I just listened to an Issues, Etc. segment (you can too at www.issuesetc.org) in which an NPR luminary interviewed a Christian ethicist about a recent cultural event. It struck me that the NPR individual seemed to have absolutely no concept of the worldview held by either the Christian he interviewed, nor about the views held by the various speakers of various different faiths at the event.

It amazes me that while our established secular culture which has emerged in force over the past three or four generations expects everyone to understand its view of things, remarkably few people in the cultural and media elite make any effort to understand other historically important views, including those which are expressed by a substantial plurality of people today.

In other words, why do I have to both understand and speak edu-psycho-enviro-babble but our media elite don't even bother to understand the basic tenets of Christianity, much less know how to communicate in its traditional jargon, even when they pontificate about it?

Hear! Hear! The NPR luminary didn't get it at all.
